This handsome pine armoire has considerable presence, having a lovely color and attractive grain pattern combined with interesting design features, including a creative use of hardwood trim. The ogee crown molding is applied to the armoire case a little shy of its top and with a slightly convex frieze running beneath it. Each door has three flat panels, one rectangular between two square, secured with hardwood mullions. The top panels once had plaster swag appliqués in their center. Only the shadow remains but it neither dominates nor offends. Applied on the front corners and between the doors are fluted split columns with decorative hardwood bases and classical capitals. These appear to stand on a shallow platform at the base, which contains a hand-cut dovetailed drawer. On the inside is a retrofitted hat shelf and hanging pole. The lock and key are original.
