We all love this outstanding armoire. It has lovely form and function, beautiful proportions and a most attractive finish. The ogee crown, built up from three tiers of molding, presents very well, as does the bold reed on each front corner. This sits within a chamfer and is carved, not applied. Each side and each door has a long raised panel above a short one, with stepped-up edge and a carved bead to the frame. The doors are each mounted on three fiche hinges and open a full 180 degrees to reveal a removable retrofitted interior, three shelves on the left and a hat shelf and hanging pole on the right. With a reconfigured interior it would be an ideal piece for use as an entertainment center. The buttermilk paint is worn through to an earlier white and some blue. Interior fittings, shown in the images, suggest the piece can be disassembled if necessary.
