This is a classic Central European Wardrobe, with details a little more unusual than most. The ogee crown molding with a row of gadroon molding beneath is typical of the period but the front corner decoration is more unusual. A broad flute is hollowed out, then filled with a pyramid appliqué beneath a short split baluster, repeated in the center, and at the top where the split column is topped by a carved corbel. The theme repeats on the edge of the right-hand door. The doors open 180 degrees to reveal a retrofitted hat shelf and hanging pole. The base contains a single shallow hand-cut dovetailed drawer.
Hungary, circa 1890
