. It’s been a while since we had one of these iconic pieces of Irish vernacular furniture to offer for sale. The open rack dresser took pride of place in any Irish household that could afford it. On it would be displayed the family china and other “valuables”, no matter how humble. This is a fairly plain example with no fretwork or drawers or sled feet. It does have a great rich honey color, as well as the classic two board sides, the rear one standing from crown to floor, the front one rounded off about halfway to form the sides of the work surface, before extending to the floor, supporting the counter and the rails and stiles that will frame the paneled doors. Two shelves in the open rack have removable bars to protect the plates placed upon them. The doors swing wide to reveal a single shelf inside. The left hand door has a little “spring” to its bottom inside corner (see images).
