Pine Two Door Bonnet Top Armoire

This is an unusually deep baroque style pine armoire with a thick bonnet top crown molding.  The door frames are scalloped to give beautiful curves to the panels, and arched to follow the line of the crown.  The front corner moldings are a single bold flute.  This extraordinary piece retains all of its original hand-carved hanging pegs; a row of ten along the upper back rail, and a central board with five pegs on one side and four on the other.  A hanging pole could easily be installed beneath the pegs.  There is a single hand-cut dovetailed drawer in the interior bottom.  This armoire has 21” interior depth with a hanging length of over 50”, big enough to hang the largest outdoor coats.  This would be a great piece where a low or sloping ceiling demands a short piece, but where storage needs are substantial.  Behind the arched crown, it is only 68” high.
